Walnut girls get first round road playoff victory to move on to round of 16
Walnut went on the road for the first round of the playoffs as the lower seed to play in notoriously hostile territory by taking on East Webster.
But don’t call the Lady ‘Cats underdogs.
Walnut went to Maben and picked up the road victory 63-55 to advance to the round of 16 in the state baseketball playoffs.
The Lady Wildcats raced out to a 20-8 first quarter lead and held off a Lady Wolverine rally late to secure the victory.
Madilynn Vuncannon led with 19 points. Claire Leak added 14 while Laney Jackson contributed 11.
Walnut is on the road again Friday night as they travel to Newton. Tip off is set for 7 pm.
