Walnut opens on the road with out of state opponent
When: Friday, August 23rd
Who: Scott’s Hill High School
Where: Reagan, TN
The Walnut Wildcats open the 2019 season with a 90 minute bus ride to take on the Scott’s Hill Lions. See the breakdown below (and be sure to check out the season preview by clicking here.)
Offense
The Wildcats have the pieces in place to field a dynamic offense this season. Running back TJ Luellen should be able to run between the tackles and breakaway for some big runs behind his veteran offensive line against a Lions team that lost 8 defensive starters from a season ago. Look for first year quarterback Cade Hunt to try and work the passing game with TJ Colom from his wing/slot position and Brandon Shields to find space out wide and across the field.
Defense
The Wildcats linebacker core featuring Blade Oaks and Bubba Wilbanks could rack up big defensive numbers Friday night against a Scotts Hill team that scored only 10 points per game last season.
Prediction
Early season predictions are difficult as past performance is no indication of future results. With that beign said, Scotts Hill is not able to protect the North as the Wildcats invade and come away with a 35-12 victory.
