Walnut Rolls Past Charleston in 2A Second Round, Advances to Face East Union

he Walnut Lady Wildcats wasted no time asserting control in their MHSAA Class 2A Second Round matchup, racing out to a commanding first-quarter lead and cruising to a 75-29 victory over Charleston.

Walnut opened the game on a dominant 21-4 run in the first quarter and never looked back, overwhelming Charleston on both ends of the floor. The Lady Wildcats’ defensive pressure and balanced scoring attack proved too much for the visiting squad.

Standout Performers

Kaylee Estes led the charge with a dominant all-around performance, finishing with 24 points, seven rebounds, six blocks, and two assists. Henlee Sisco added 18 points, three rebounds, three assists, and a block, while Kenley Kirk chipped in 12 points, three rebounds, and three assists.

Allie Jackson controlled the tempo offensively, recording 10 points, six assists, and five rebounds as Walnut continued its efficient postseason push.

Team Snapshot

Walnut, ranked No. 39 in Mississippi Class 2A, improved to 24-6 overall and a perfect 4-0 in district play. The Lady Wildcats have been dominant offensively this season, scoring 1,808 points while allowing 1,272, good for an .800 winning percentage.

Charleston, ranked No. 152 in Class 2A, closes its season at 12-11 overall and 4-4 in district play. The Tigers scored 860 points and allowed 762 this season.

What’s Next

With the win, Walnut advances to face East Union on February 28, 2026, at 1 p.m. at Northeast Mississippi Community College (NEMCC). The Lady Wildcats will look to carry their momentum into the next round as they continue their postseason run.
