Blue Mountain picks up first fast pitch win in 5 years after resurrecting program
The Blue Mountain Lady Cougar fastpitch softball team had been lying dormant for 5 seasons until this year.
The Lady Cougars kicked off their season and the restart with a bang, getting a 20-11 victory over in county opponent Falkner last Tuesday.
First year fastpitch Coach Alecia Sanderson was thrilled for her girls.
“They have worked super hard and have grown up playing together—which is credited to their parents. They have a passion for the sport and it reflects in their ability to play,” Sanderson said of her players being more than ready to get on the diamond.
She went in to praise her teams trusting the process and committing to resurrecting the program.
“We have gone in with the mindset of taking it one game at a time, and they definitely focused hard on that mentality. They never gave up. I’m seriously proud of them. They wanted it and they earned it.”
With slow pitch softball ending statewide, fastpitch is the new normal for team competing in softball. Here is to hoping the Lady Cougars continue to grow off of their season opening win.
