Pine Grove returns home Thursday with a chance to put a narrow defeat behind it. Falkner arrives looking to reverse a result that was considerably more decisive.
The county rivals meet at 6 p.m. Sept. 10, one week after the Panthers swept the Eagles at Falkner. Pine Grove enters at 12-9 after losing Tuesday’s fifth set at Wheeler 17-15; Falkner is 4-10. Their rematch anchors a district volleyball slate that also sends Ripley to Clarksdale and brings Hamilton to Walnut, both at 6 p.m.
Walnut has won all seven of its home matches and carries a 16-2 record into the Hamilton rematch. The Wildcats swept the Lions last week. Ripley, meanwhile, returns to district competition at 3-0 in league play despite a 9-10 overall record.
With no verified Wednesday results found in the schedules checked, attention turns to those matches and the next events across the county. Thursday’s golf calendar sends Pine Grove to Shiloh Falls, Ripley to Pickwick for 18 holes and Falkner to Booneville for nine. Falkner’s calendar lists 2–4 p.m.; tee times were not posted for the other two outings. Walnut’s next listed golf date is Sept. 17 at Booneville, with an 8:30–9:30 a.m. calendar window.
Friday brings three road football assignments, all at 7 p.m.: Falkner at Bruce, Ripley at Lewisburg and Walnut at Holly Springs. Saturday’s cross-country calendar places Falkner and Walnut at the Hickory Flat Invitational in Blue Mountain and Ripley at the Tupelo Invitational. Falkner lists an 8–10 a.m. window; individual boys’ and girls’ race times remain unconfirmed.
Beyond the fall schedule, Blue Mountain’s next posted basketball games are Nov. 3 at home against Thrasher, with girls at 6 p.m. and boys at 7:30. Pine Grove’s teams visit Houlka that evening at the same respective times. Ripley hosts Falkner’s girls Nov. 3 at 6 p.m.; the next listed boys’ games are Nov. 10, with Falkner hosting Myrtle at 7:30 and Ripley hosting New Albany at 7. Walnut’s boys host Tishomingo County Nov. 7 at 1:30 p.m.; its girls host Corinth Nov. 12 at 6.
