Ripley soccer opens busy week as Tippah runners look toward state
Ripley’s soccer teams face Caledonia Monday, opening a week that brings state cross-country races, region football and the first posted basketball dates for several Tippah County teams.
The girls play at 5 p.m. and the boys at 7 p.m. Oct. 26. Fans should confirm the location: South Tippah’s calendar lists both matches at Ripley, while MaxPreps lists Caledonia as the host. All times below are Central.
No completed varsity result was verified for Sunday, Oct. 25, across Blue Mountain, Falkner, Pine Grove, Ripley and Walnut. The next posted contests therefore provide the county’s outlook.
Cross-country’s destination is Choctaw Trails in Clinton. Blue Mountain and Pine Grove list Thursday’s Class 1A state meet, with girls racing at 12:40 p.m. and boys at 1:15 p.m.; Walnut lists the Class 2A meet that day, girls at 11:20 a.m. and boys at 11:55 a.m. Ripley’s next listing is Saturday’s Class 4A championship, girls at 2 p.m. and boys at 2:35 p.m. Those are the MHSAA’s race times; school schedule listings do not establish each runner’s qualification. Falkner has no later meet posted on its team schedule.
Thursday’s football schedule sends Walnut to Baldwyn and brings Potts Camp to Falkner for senior night, both at 7 p.m. Ripley travels to Senatobia at 7 p.m., but its date needs confirmation: MaxPreps lists Thursday, Oct. 29; South Tippah lists Friday, Oct. 30.
Basketball begins filling Saturday’s daylight hours. Falkner’s boys are listed at Alcorn Central at 9:30 a.m., Ripley’s boys at Corinth at 10, Walnut’s girls at Saltillo at 10:30, Pine Grove’s boys at East Union at noon and Pine Grove’s girls at Hatley at 1:15 p.m.
Blue Mountain’s next basketball games are home against Thrasher Nov. 3, girls at 6 p.m. and boys at 7:30. Falkner’s girls visit Ripley that evening; MaxPreps lists 6:30 p.m., while North Tippah’s event begins at 6. Walnut’s boys next host Tishomingo County Nov. 7: MaxPreps lists 1:30 p.m., while the district lists the combined girls/boys event beginning at 10 a.m.
Spring schedules already offer several dates. On Feb. 6, 2027, Ripley baseball visits Alcorn Central at 2 p.m., Walnut baseball has an untimed Mooreville scrimmage and Pine Grove softball attends an untimed Mooreville jamboree. Falkner baseball hosts Tremont Feb. 11 at 6 p.m.; Pine Grove baseball’s earliest verified listing is at Walnut March 6 at 1 p.m.
Ripley softball next hosts New Albany Feb. 9 at 6:30 p.m.; Falkner hosts New Site Feb. 19 at 5:30; Walnut hosts New Site March 16 at 5:30. Blue Mountain baseball and softball have no next event listed.
