Pine grove claims Tippah tournament championship with offensive explosion
The Pine Grove Lady Panthers came away with the Slow Pitch Tippah County Tournament championship using a simple formula: play solid defense and swing away.
Consider the swings swung.
“We knew we hadn’t been hitting the ball up to our potential so far this year. It had been kind of a coin flip. I’m glad to see our belated going,” Pine Grove coach Justin Jordan said.
The Lady Panthers unleashed for 7 homeruns by 5 players, scoring 38 runs against their opponents 4.
Aside from homeruns from Karlie Rogers, Delainey Pannell, Beth Crouch, Macey Hill and Allie Orman, the Lady Panthers got key hits from Macie Junper and Ellie Fryar.
The Lady Panthers lopsided score differential was made possible by stellar defense by Bella Jumper, Kenzie Miller and Ashley Tomlinson, whose diving highlight reel catch sealed the victory and the tournament championship.
