ABAC Sweeps Blue Mountain Christian in Senior Day Series

BLUE MOUNTAIN, Miss. — The Blue Mountain Christian baseball team hosted Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College for a three-game series on Senior Day but was swept in the series, ending with a 6-1 loss in Saturday’s finale.

The series opener was highly competitive, with Blue Mountain narrowly losing 12-11. Both teams exchanged runs throughout the game, which featured a back-and-forth battle between the offenses.

ABAC gained more separation in Game 2 with an 8-2 victory. In Saturday’s finale, the Toppers scored first, with Reise Thomas driving in Ethan Hirons on an RBI double in the third inning. The Stallions responded in the fourth to tie the game and took a 2-1 lead with a solo home run in the sixth.

Blue Mountain remained within striking distance into the late innings, but ABAC added four runs in the ninth to secure the win. The Toppers finished with 10 hits, led by Jake Meilstrup’s four-hit performance. Thomas contributed two hits and the team’s only RBI, while Jarrett Morris, Gavin Foley, Trace Roy and Cody Presley also contributed offensively.

On the mound, Benji Webb pitched 8.1 innings, striking out nine batters and keeping the game close. Jack Hearn finished in relief. Despite the losses, Blue Mountain showcased resilience and competitiveness throughout the weekend, especially in the tightly contested opener and during Senior Day.
