Blue Mountain Christian University men’s soccer team lost to Williams Baptist University 2-0 Saturday afternoon at The Summit. The match was tightly contested, with neither team scoring in the first half.
Williams Baptist broke the deadlock in the 55th minute when Adriano Pelloni converted a penalty kick. The Eagles added a second goal in the 88th minute, with Alberto Ruiz scoring to seal the victory.
Blue Mountain created multiple chances in the second half, firing 14 shots compared to eight in the first half. The Toppers finished with 17 shots overall, including seven on target. Davi Rainato, who came off the bench, registered four shots on goal in 40 minutes, while Pedro Pina and Guilherme Aguiar also tested the goalkeeper.
Goalkeeper Luan Nascimento played all 90 minutes for BMCU, making five saves. Despite their offensive efforts, the Toppers could not find the net before Williams Baptist secured the win with its late goals.
