The Lady Wildcats led the entire game after taking a 14-11 first quarter lead. Their 10 point advantage headed into the 4th quarter was cut to just a two point lead behind a flurry of steals and buckets by Falkner’s India and Asia Prather plus a big 3 pointer from Madison Wilder.
Enter Laura Leigh Hughes off the bench with Walnut’s lead down to two points.
The freshman had a sequence that went like this: three pointer, steal, assist, rebound, layup. It was enough to close the game out and secure the victory.
Walnut was led in scoring by Chloe Casner with 13 and Vivian Martindale with 12. Falkner was led by India Prather’s 18. Asia Prather added 12.
Walnut advances to play top seeded Pine Grove on Friday at 6:30 tonight.
