Falkner Coach Austin Hopper wanted his Eagles to get out to a fast start in the opening game of the Lighthouse Classic. The day after Thanksgiving, missing a regular starter, 9 a.m. game against a school from a larger classification could definitely lead to a sluggish start.
Those fears were put to rest early as the Eagles jumped out to a 17-6 lead over Kossuth en route to a dominating 59-34 victory.
The Eagles were led in scoring by Daylon Crum’s 18 points. Chauncey Jackson put up 17 points and 11 rebounds and was named the game’s MVP.
“It was good to see Daylon so aggressive, getting into the paint and finishing. Chauncey did a great job cleaning up the glass. I thought that and our three point shooting were big for us today,” Hopper said of his teams win.
The win moved the Eagles to 4-3 on the year. Their next game is Tuesday against Thrasher.
