Back to the ‘Ship: Pine Grove rolls over West Lowndes to make way to title game
The Lady Panthers last trip to the Jackson for their five seniors ended the same way the previous three years worth have: in victory.
Pine Grove is heading back to their fourth straight title game thanks to a dominant second half, turning a 25-16 halftime lead into a 5-26 victory.
The Lady Panthers were on brand all game: they out-rebounded West Lowndes 33-21 and generated 8 steals.
“We started executing better in the second half, handling their physical style better,” Coach Katie Bates said of the Lady Panthers runaway win.
Pine Grove got a basket from Bella Jumper to end the first quarter and take a 14-7 lead that was never in danger from that point forward.
Pine Grove got 13 points and 11 rebounds from Loren Elliott. Jumper ended the gamewith 11. Kenzie Miller put up 10. Karlie Rogers added 8 points and 9 rebounds.
The Lady Panthers move on to the state title game to take on the winner of Baldwyn and Sacred Heart. The game will be played at Ole Miss.
