Pineville, La. — Davi Vieira scored with a header in the 86th minute to give Blue Mountain Christian University a 1-1 draw against Louisiana Christian at Wildcat Field on Saturday.
Louisiana Christian took an early lead in the 21st minute when Matej Motycka converted a loose ball inside the box following a corner kick. The Wildcats held their advantage through halftime, despite BMCU’s efforts to generate offense. The Toppers recorded seven shots and four on goal before halftime but remained scoreless.
After the break, Blue Mountain Christian increased pressure while maintaining a solid defensive stand. Vieira’s equalizer came after a free kick from Rainato, who delivered the ball into the box. Vieira headed the ball into the net at the 85:37 mark, his first goal of the season. Neither team scored again, and the match ended in a draw.
BMCU finished with a 13-11 shot advantage. Santiago Estebanez and Victor Silva led the Toppers with three attempts each, while Rainato and Sammuel Davi Cavalcante added two shots apiece. Luan Nascimento played all 90 minutes in goal, making six saves and allowing only one goal. The Toppers also held a 4-3 edge in corner kicks, while Louisiana Christian finished with a 7-5 advantage in shots on goal.
With the result, Blue Mountain Christian moves to 3-1-3 this season. The team will face Central Baptist College on Tuesday at The Summit.
