Blue Mountain Christian College’s men’s soccer team delivered an offensive display Saturday night at The Summit, earning an 8-0 victory against Talladega College.
The Toppers wasted little time, with Dipanda Silva Jr. opening the scoring in the eighth minute off an assist from Sammuel Davi Cavalcante. Silva added a second goal just over three minutes later, with assists from Erick Braga and Pedro Pina. Nicholas Vieira extended the lead with two goals before halftime, in the 28th and 32nd minutes, the latter assisted by Malachi Hodgson.
After halftime, Blue Mountain continued its dominance. Yalin Alici scored two minutes into the second half, assisted by Pedro Suarez and Hodgson. Cory Nash added to the lead in the 61st minute, assisted by Pina, then scored again 70 seconds later with help from Nash and Victor Silva. Silva capped the scoring in the 71st minute, finishing the night with eight goals for the team.
The Toppers finished with 31 shots, 15 on goal. Silva Jr., Vieira, and Alici each scored twice. Nash and Silva each had a goal and an assist, while Pina and Hodgson contributed two assists each. Blue Mountain totaled nine assists on its eight goals.
Defensively, Selleck Burggraf played all 90 minutes in goal, making three saves and earning a clean sheet.
