Walnut claims boys and girls cross country state title
It was a banner day for the Walnut Cross Country team.
Make it a double banner day for good measure.
The Lady Wildcats and Wildcats each claimed a 2A team state title on Saturday, running their way to the coveted title with 28 and 30 points respectively.
Gabe McElwain also claimed the individual 2A state championship, clocking in with a time of 17:06:29.
Harley Garner finished 2nd in 2A girls with a time of 20:34:32. MK Vuncannon finished 3rd with a time of 21:02:06.
Walnut boys finished with an average time of 18:32:80, a full minute and a half faster than 2nd place Eupora.
Walnut girls finished with an average time of 21:44:19, over a minute faster than 2nd place East Union.
