Hard work pays off: Lady Tigers claim championship on third trip to title game
When things went wrong for the Lady Tigers, they went back to work to figure it out.
When things went right for the Lady Tigers, they went back to work to get better.
The end game? The 2020 state championship. A gold ball is coming back to Ripley.
Ripley won a low scoring, grit it out game over Moss Point on Thursday 37-30 to claim the 4A state championship.
The Lady Tigers led wire to wire and got a standout game from do-whatever-it-takes senior Rivers Adams to close out the contest.
Adams got four free throws to fall in the final 90 seconds to ice the game and secure the game MVP trophy. She finished with 10 points and 7 rebounds.
Best game Rivers Adams has played all year in my opinion. She has 8 points and 6 rebounds, nails these two HUGE clutch FT. Riplwy leads Moss Point 34-29 with 33 seconds to play. pic.twitter.com/Sj1TLgKufF

Amelya Hatch, Summer Kirkman and Siarra Jackson combined for 19 points and 16 rebounds and each played stop at nothing defense in their final games as Lady Tigers.
“We came on the floor with the mindset that we couldn’t lose this game,” Kirkman said.
The Lady Tigers did whatever it took to ensure they didn’t. They erased a pair of title game losses with a total team performance.
