Falkner

Eagles look to move forward with new faces and young group in 2021

Falkner looks to improve on their 2020 season under first year coach Jeff Anglin and they will rely heavily on new faces to accomplish their goals.

In 2020, the Eagles were outscored 413-18 and they replace numerous players from last years squad, including all starting linemen and they look to replace All District performers Zion Grizzard and Jeremiah Mitchell.

On the plus side for the Eagles, they bring back All District performer Benton Hopkins as a three year starter. He will help lead the Eagle offense along with fellow Senior Paden Nance.

Look for freshmen Myles Mitchell and Chris Nunley to contribute on the offensive end along with Sophmore Brayden Moore. First time player Rod Ruedas, a basketball standout, is giving football a try this season and will be looked upon to help bring athleticism to the offense.

On the defensive side, All District performer John Thomas Swinford will anchor that unit along with Kane Floyd and Ashton Matthews.

Several players will be asked to contribute in multiple facets of the game, including Jospeph Swinford who saw time all over the field a season ago and will look to do the same this year.

The Eagles will dress just 22 players this year and 16 of those are underclassmen. The Falkner group will have to show true grit to improve upon their numbers from last season.
