Tigers claim district title with shutout win over Houston
Ripley came into their Thursday night matchup against Houston needing a win or a Pontotoc loss to claim the 2-4A district crown.
A Ty Long inside the park homer in the bottom of the third got the scoring started after both teams started slow at the palte.
That proved to be all the scoring that Long and the Tigers needed but the runs kept coming for the home team.
Ripley claimed their 5th district title in the last 6 full seasons with a 7-0 win over the visitors from Houston to move to 13-8 on the year and 8-2 in 2-4A.
Long spun a gem for Ripley, coming up big to clench the district crown with 9 K’s in a one-hit complete game victory.
